1. Can anyone CrossFit?

YES! The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs

2. Is CrossFit dangerous?

Without the proper form anything in any gym can be dangerous. However, we don’t throw you to the wolves on your first time in. It is required for all beginning CrossFitters to take our On-Ramp Course in order to help condition yourself and understand the fundamentals of what we do. In addition we have coaches that oversee ever single class to ensure that everyone remains as safe and informed as possible

3. What is a WOD?

WOD stands for “Workout of the Day” and each class is designed with a new WOD each day. CrossFit prides itself on being constantly varied, so you will be exposed to limitless amounts and varaiations of CrossFit style workouts.

4. What can I expect after my first WOD?

There will be soreness and muscle tightness. This is always at its worst when first starting CrossFit, but does dwindle so long as you maintain regular attendance at the gym. Stretching is always recommended to those with muscle pain as it will help alleviate most symptoms. A little ibuprofen helps too.

5. Can CrossFit help me lose weight?

Absolutely! Most people find that if they remain dedicated and maintain a healthy diet, weight loss is almost guaranteed. That being said, CrossFit is not a “magic pill” and needs to be supplemented with a healthy diet and lifestyle.

6. Will I get big/bulky and gain weight?

If your goal initially was to lose weight, you may find that even though your pants fit differently the scale has started going back up. This is normal, as you are building muscle which is much denser than fat. You do not, however, have to get bulky. A large percentage of CrossFitters only wish to be toned, and it is up to each individual to set their own fitness goals. By the same token, those who have trouble putting on weight will find that if they choose to use CrossFit – with a proper diet as always – they can also tip the scale in their favor.

7. What if I can’t do the movement, or it is too heavy?

There is ALWAYS the option to scale the workout be reducing the weight, or modifying the movement to fit your needs and abilities. There’s no shame in scaling, and we actually encourage that you scale the workout if you are not comfortable doing the movement at the prescribed weight. Your coach will be able to help you scale your workout on the spot!
